2024 was the final year for South Hills Annual Trail Series prizes. We thank all runners, volunteers, and sponsors for a great 20 years!

The series is known as “SHATS,” or South Hills Annual Trail Series. Races 1, 2, and 3 are run on various trails in and around the Helena, Montana area. The 4th and final race takes place on the Mt. Helena Ridge trail and finishes in historic downtown Helena. Runners finishing three of the four races are eligible for series prizes.
XC-style scoring: Male and female winners of each race score 1 point; second-place finishers score 2 points, and so on. At the end of the series, points are totaled (read on for scoring in races with 2 distances). Runners finishing all 4 races will have their worst (highest) score thrown out. Prizes are awarded following the final race (Ridge Rumble). Best of all — series finishers win a SHATS hoodie with BQR’s goat logo!
- For the Thunderbolt Creek 12k / 30k (held on July 13), points for 12k finishers were tallied based on their finish time x3.
- For the Little Blackfoot 10k / 20k (held on July 27), there were only three participants in the 20k and their times were divided in half to determine their point placement.
